Something I’ve been wanting to add to the blog for some time now is some awesome recipes! The only problem was, I wasn’t sure where to find any original recipes I could share except … hello! Who has better recipes than mom?! My mom actually reached out to me with an offer to share some of her favorite recipes with us. So, be sure to keep your eyes open for some great recipes, straight from Mom’s Kitchen. Below my mom has shared her first recipe and a little introduction about herself and the history of her recipes. Enjoy!
Hello everyone! A little about me, my name is Shannon and I have two daughters, Liz and her younger sister Jordan, along with one grandson and another one on the way! I grew up in Montana and was fortunate enough to have some great cooks in my life. My parents, Ben and Vivian were amazing in the kitchen. Unfortunately, they both passed away in 2016. Before my mom passed, we would try to write down each of the recipes that my parents and grandparents had made for my siblings and me. My family loved to spend time in the kitchen and that was where we created so many great memories. I have 5 brothers and sisters so, as you can imagine, dinner time was busy and took a lot of preparation! We had a huge garden and we always canned our own goods in the summer and fall. My dad was from a big Italian family and my mom was Welch and Italian. Some of the recipes I will share with you came from my grandparents or great-grandparents and some I’ve developed on my own. I thought it would be nice to share some of my recipes with Liz and her followers and I wanted to introduce new recipes to my girls and keep the old family recipes going! Don’t be afraid to change things up and make them your own! Remember, when someone eats your food they’re not going to say “Wow, your mom really knew how to cook!”, they will say “You made an amazing dinner, cook for us again!”. So, on that note, I thought I’d start out with an easy one. Chicken Fried Steak! You can serve this with white or brown gravy, mashed potatoes or rice. It is my absolute favorite comfort food, I actually made this for dinner last night. I hope you all enjoy this as much as my family does!
