Foggy Mountain Skincare Review
I’m always on the look out for new skincare products! Especially those that are all natural and inexpensive. Foggy Mountain Skincare products are hand made by Alex and Cole, the creators of the company and they make their products right out of their own kitchen. I have a lot of respect and interest for small businesses, especially those with hand made products. I was not let down by the quality of these products and wanted to share my own review of Foggy Mountain Skincare!
Fall Leaves Body Butter
I am always needing some sort of lotion to carry around with me, my skin gets so dry during the winter and I especially love anything that reminds me of fall. I bought the smallest size, which is small enough to carry in my purse so, I can bring it wherever I go! I really appreciated the way the products were packaged, they were enclosed tightly in ziplock bags surrounded by packing peanuts to minimize any damage. I can’t tell you how many products I’ve received and opened only to find they’ve exploded all over the place! While this may seem like a small thing, it says a lot about the care put into not only the products but for the customers.
The smell of the product actually reminded me of the smell of fall, and I have a feeling this product is going to last me a long time. I only have to use a small amount each time. It leaves my hands feeling smooth and moisturized and it’s not so thick that it sits on top of my skin.
Mint & Honey Lip Scrub
I love, love, love this product! I really enjoy experimenting with honey so, I’m happy to have it in a beauty product. The minty smell wasn’t at all over-powering but very refreshing. My lips can get really chapped if I forget to use a lip balm so I like to use this a few times a week during my nightly skincare routine. It’s super gentle but still abrasive enough to give you smooth skin. And it leaves your lips feeling fresh and moisturized!
The Lip Balm
I chose the lip balm to go along with the lip scrub because I’m cursed with dry lips! I like to keep this on my night side table to use before bed and in the morning. It had a very subtle smell to it and I really enjoyed using it. It was very light weight and did a great job of keeping my lips soft and moisturized.
I was so pleased with the products from Foggy Mountain Skincare that I asked Alex if she would be willing to answer a few questions for our readers. Here’s what she said!
An interview with Alex from Foggy Mountain Skincare
What was the inspiration behind starting Foggy Mountain Skin Care?
My inspiration came after I had made a spur of the moment trip back to Montana from Seattle to see my mom over Christmas. She had recently taken a lotion making class taught by one of her friends and she wanted to try out a recipe with me. Needless to say, the outcome was a complete disaster. I then became determined to find the perfect recipe. After nearly 3 years of trial and error, I finally found what I was looking for. A co worker in Seattle told me, off handedly, “You could sell this.” That sparked an inspiration, and after nearly 2 years working in telemarketing, I saw an opportunity to pursue a passion.
How did you decide on the name, Foggy Mountain Skin Care?
Cole and I are originally from Montana, so the mountains are our home. But it is too cold. We are now located in Oregon (where it can be very foggy) and we wanted something that spoke to both our past and current homes.
What’s your favorite part of your business?
For me, the favorite part is finding new recipes. I often find myself pushing aside my other responsibilities (like boring paperwork) to play around with masks or lotions. There are so many natural ingredients I’ve never even thought of which have amazing benefits for your skin (like fresh vegetables). If my feet let me, I would spend 24/7 in my kitchen creating new recipes.
What was something you learned after starting Foggy Mountain Skin Care?
I’ve learned a lot about adapting. Not everything goes according to plan.
What’s your favorite product and why?
My favorite product is the body butter. I don’t need to use lotion every hour of the day, I just need a little bit here and there since it is so thick. Since we use shea butter and cocoa butter it deeply penetrates the skin which is great since I am always washing my hands.
Do you have any new products you’re working on that we can look forward to?
Mossy is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of face masks. We have some great things coming soon. All I can say is we’ve been working with local farmers!
Do you have any advice for someone else wanting to start their own skin care business?
Don’t give up and check out your local farmers’ market!
