It’s the Christmas season again, and we’re sooo excited! We love this time of year with all of the exciting opportunities and experiences available to us. It’s also the gift-giving season. Finding the right gift for someone can be complicated, especially if you know that they LOVE makeup, but you don’t know where to even begin! Us makeup lovers can be picky and we can have a lot of specific likes and dislikes when it comes to our makeup related products. I know there are a TON of gift giving guides out there, but I still wanted to share my favorite products that I have both tried or products that I’ve heard about and know are popular. Here are 10 gift ideas for the Makeup lover in your life!
A brush set
There are a lot of different tools we use to apply makeup whether it’s brushes, sponges, your fingers, etc. Everyone has a different tactic for applying their makeup and recently I’ve been hearing a lot about oval makeup brushes. They’re very popular and I’ve heard lots of good reviews about them, I found the Yoseng Makeup Brush set on Amazon, it’s a set of 10 and comes in a few different colors (ironically in my search for the right brushes, I noticed my husband had actually gotten these for me for Christmas… oops!). You can use these brushes for applying finishing powder, liquid foundation, eyeshadow, the list goes on! Not to mention they’re pretty easy on the eyes.
Vanity makeup mirror
Unless your makeup lover already has one of these (I’d try to discretely find that out), this is an extremely useful gift. Being able to actually see what you’re doing when you’re applying your makeup is essential for getting your makeup to look just right. There have been one too many times when I’ve had to climb up onto a counter to get closer to the mirror because it was too far away or the lighting was too dim. The Bestope Vanity Makeup Mirror has LED lights with a touchscreen, USB charging and is adjustable so if they don’t have a place to sit and apply their makeup they can use it standing up!
As any makeup lover knows, you need a place to put all of your products or things can get out of hand pretty quickly. This will help them keep their area nice and neat, or if they don’t particularly care about being nice and neat at the very least it will make it easier for them to find what they need. You can find all sorts of storage solutions at places like Walmart, Target, Ross, and Amazon. There are tons of different options to choose from. I found my organizer on Amazon.
I started using the Makeup Eraser after I got tired of spending money on makeup remover wipes. Some of the remover wipes felt a little harsh on my skin and if I ran out and forgot to buy more I would have to get creative. I love the Makeup Eraser because it’s reusable (I just throw it in with the towels whenever I run a load), it’s chemical free (you literally just get it wet), and it does a great job of removing your makeup. It’s about $20, which may sound like a lot for a makeup remover, but this thing is supposed to last about 2 years. So when you calculate the cost and compare it to the wipes or other products it could save you (or your makeup lover) some money. You can find it at Sephora or Amazon.
Up until a few years ago, I had never used a Beauty Blender. Eventually, I decided to give it a try and I haven’t looked back. Using a brush or your fingers can leave marks or cause problems with blending. This does a great job of applying your makeup smoothly and evenly. You can get the original Beauty Blender from Sephora, but honestly, I like some of the off brand ones better. You can find them at pretty much any department store. My personal favorite is the blending sponge from ELF.
Travel makeup bag
I can attest to the fact that when it comes to traveling it’s nice to have a specific bag that you can throw all your makeup bag. This way it’s all organized and in one place and it’s a lot less hassle. The Rownyeon portable travel makeup bag has a special place for your brushes and separate areas to keep your makeup. It’s also nice that it’s flat so you don’t have to dump all the contents of your bag out on a countertop just to find that one tiny stick of eyeliner that keeps evading you (UGH the frustration!). There are LOTS of different bags to choose from if you don’t want a plain black one, Target always has some great options too.
Trying to apply makeup without a point of reference can be a hazard because you might run the risk of poking out your eye or completely missing your lips when applying lipstick. Having a compact to carry around in your purse is great for a number of reasons: the obvious one is applying makeup, you can fix your hair, or to get that piece spinach out of your teeth. Whatever your reasons, there are lots of different compact mirrors to choose from.
Paul & Joe lipstick
I don’t know if you’ve ever seen this lipstick before but it’s lipstick that’s shaped like a cat, it’s adorable and I can’t get over it. I mean I have a cat and I like cats, but I wouldn’t label myself a crazy cat lady or anything. Still, I can’t get over how cute this lipstick is. Unless your makeup lover dislikes cats (in which case maybe don’t get this…), this lipstick is such a cute gift idea. You can find some cheaper options on Amazon, just keep in mind that it’s just a refill so you need to get a special case for it. You can find some cool ones here.
A gift card
Hey, when in doubt right? Sometimes it’s a good idea to give someone the option to get themselves something you KNOW they’ll like because they picked it out themselves. And when it comes to buying actual makeup products it can get a little tricky so unless you know of a specific brand or product your makeup lover is interested, you can always just play it safe with a Sephora gift card.
We hope this list was helpful for deciding on a gift for your makeup lover! Let us know if you have any questions, we’re happy to chat!
